ResponsibilitiesThe Associate Underwriter builds strong internal and external relationships, while managing a book of business, balancing profitability, retention and customer satisfaction with our distribution partners.
Key Functions- Achieves new business premium, renewal premium retention and rate change objectives.
- Manages own agency relationship in addition to supporting a renewal book of business, working closely with the underwriting team.
- Within company guidelines and granted underwriting authority, evaluates new and renewal information to determine risk acceptability in terms/conditions to be quoted, and priced.
- Utilizes various underwriting tools to determine acceptable risk characteristics, determine accurate exposure classifications; set adequate property limits to accomplish appropriate insurance to value and rate and quote business to agents.
- Orders and reviews inspections to confirm accounts written are consistent with preliminary underwriting information and acts when the inspection reveals unacceptable risk characteristics.
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience working in property & casualty insurance or in an underwriting capacity preferred.
- Ability to travel in assigned territory.
- Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining positive relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, including listening for solutions.
- Demonstrates a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and present in a way that influences others.
- Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.
- High energy self‑starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Goal‑oriented achiever who delivers results.
- Basic knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel and Email is mandatory.

Benefits- Base Salary Range: 55k-$75k
