Position: Consultant, Field Underwriter - Commercial Lines (New England)

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and price specialized small lines commercial risks with advanced judgment
  • Provide guidance and expertise to sales teams and agency staff
  • Build strong agency relationships and lead complex negotiations
  • Monitor market trends and contribute to innovation in underwriting practices
  • Mentor and share expertise to elevate team performance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced designations like CPCU, ARM preferred)
  • 6–8+ years of commercial underwriting experience with complex risks
  • Exceptional analytical, consultative, and communication skills
  • Ability to travel regularly within assigned territory
Territory & Travel

Candidates must reside in New England (CT or MA preferable). This role involves weekly travel, typically within a 3–5 hour radius to meet with agency partners. A company vehicle would be provided.
