Applicants must be licensed in Connecticut and prefer litigation experience defending bodily injury and property claims, including auto, commercial, homeowners, premises liability, products liability, property damage, uninsured/underinsured motorist, and wrongful death claims. Admission to Federal court is a plus, and admission to Rhode Island and/or Massachusetts is also a plus but not required.
This position is a hybrid Success Flex opportunity located in our Rocky Hill, CT Trial Division office.
Key Responsibilities- Act as lead counsel or part of a team, demonstrating strong trial advocacy, proactive case management, and high‑quality work product.
- Operate with minimal managerial oversight, following Nationwide Trial Division (NTD) standard methodology and client expectations.
- Utilize technology efficiently and collaborate with support staff for effective case administration.
- Stay aware of changes in law, technology, and local rules that affect litigation strategies.
- Maintain subject matter expertise across all NTD concentrations and seek ongoing development as needed.
- Provide factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations, communicating updates promptly to clients and claims.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders within the Office of the Chief Legal Officer, claims partners, and industry contacts.
- Use relationships to enhance NTD’s reputation and expand case referral opportunities enterprise‑wide.
- Communicate effectively, identifying and meeting expectations of clients, claims, and internal NTD teams.
- Mentor junior attorneys and NTD staff, serving as a model in engagement, coaching, efficiency, and collaboration.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reports to Managing Trial Attorney.
Qualifications- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of eight years’ relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.
- Significant experience handling complex legal matters in all courts and agencies within the assigned jurisdiction.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Collaborative, team‑oriented approach, with mentoring capability.
- Negotiation, analytical, time‑management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with basic software and electronic filing systems.
- Ability to adapt to legal and technological changes.
- Adherence to professional conduct rules and corporate policies.

Job Conditions- Overtime eligibility:
Not Eligible (Exempt). - Work environment may be office‑based, partially remote, or hybrid with frequent travel, occasional overnight trips, and extended hours as required.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
