The Position

The State of Connecticut, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) is now hiring for a Buildings And Grounds Patrol Officer to join their team. This position will maintain the safety and security of the agency, including veteran patients, veteran residents, visitors, and staff.

  • Enforce rules and regulations;
  • Assist patients, residents, staff, and visitors;
  • Guard the entrances and exits of the DVA campus to prevent trespassing, vandalism, theft of state and private property, and other violations;
  • Perform vehicle and foot patrols of the DVA campus buildings, cemeteries, and other state locations; and
  • Utilize multiple cameras, access control systems, and an intricate fire alarm system to monitor the DVA to deter crime while maintaining safety and security.
About Us

For over 140 years, DVA has been caring for its veterans and their dependents. As a Department, we believe in "serving those who have served." This is accomplished through our Office of Advocacy and Assistance, Residential Facility, Healthcare Center, and Cemetery and Burial Services. The DVA has supported Connecticut veterans and continues this tradition with residential and healthcare programming on our campus in Rocky Hill.

There are two paths for residency at the DVA:
Residential Facility and Sgt. John L. Levitow Healthcare Center.
