SummaryPerforms a variety of routine and advanced laboratory tests and procedures ranging from waived to high complexity testing in one or more sections of the Clinical Laboratory. Participates in quality control, CAP surveys, proficiency testing, method and procedure development, and equipment inspections, maintenance, and calibrations.
Responsibilities- Investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.
- Participates on teams or performs special projects/assignments.
- Teaches Clinical Laboratory Science students and trains new employees; serves as a technical resource.
- Performs quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
- Executes routine and less standardized test procedures, including special chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests; observes tests and reactions and provides data.
- Prepares specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
- Reports results to healthcare providers and consults with them regarding test results.
- Reviews test results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
- Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related clinical science.
- Registry (or eligibility) as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT(ASCP)) or Medical Technologist (MT(HEW), MT(AMT), MLT(AMT)).
- No previous experience required.
