About this Opportunity

Paramount is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support operations across our Willesden Green and Sinclair gas processing facilities. Based out of the Alhambra Plant near Rocky Mountain House or the Sinclair Plant near Grande Prairie, and reporting to the Operations Engineering team, this position plays a key role in monitoring, optimizing, and troubleshooting plant processes to maximize facility reliability, uptime, and netback.

Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel, the successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support for multiple oil and gas processing facilities, identify opportunities for performance improvement, and help ensure safe and efficient operations. This role is ideally suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex operational challenges and working directly with field teams.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimize the performance of gas processing facilities, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and production enhancement.
  • Provide daily operational support and troubleshooting for plant operators and field personnel.
  • Monitor, optimize and troubleshoot all aspects of upstream oil, gas, condensate and water gathering and processing.
  • Equipment and processes include:

    Refrigeration systems.

    Heat medium systems and heat exchangers

    Flare and relief systems

    Condensate stabilization

    Amine sweetening

    Gas dehydration
  • Participate in HAZOP and PHA studies, perform process modelling, and participate in design reviews.
  • Support the Management of Change program by executing MoC projects and supporting both greenfield and brownfield capital projects.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams to identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Travel between the Willesden Green and Sinclair facilities as required.
  • Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited Canadian university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or eligible for immediate registration.
  • 10+ years of process engineering experience within the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and optimizing natural gas and oil processing facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of sour gas treating, amine systems, gas dehydration, hydrocarbon dewpoint control, refrigeration systems, and NGL recovery processes.
  • Experience working closely with operations personnel in a producing asset environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose operational issues and implement practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with process simulation software such as Symmetry, Aspen HYSYS or VMGSim is essential.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to travel to operating facilities as required.
  • Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, Grande Prairie; or the Rocky Mountain House, Eckville, Sylvan Lake, or surrounding Central Alberta area.
