The Assistant Pool Manager will assist the Pool Manager with pre-season preparation, manage daily operations and postseason closure of the Roeland Park Aquatic Center. Primary duties involve pool staff supervision, cash operations, water chemistry management, daily pool opening and closing, ordering of supplies and resolution of patrons concerns and complaints. Assistant Pool Manager will monitor daily cash operations and prepare reports on patron comments/concerns, weather conditions and regular staff training, and tasks completed.
Responsible for minor housekeeping and maintenance duties for pool operation and communication with Superintendent of Parks and Recreation for additional maintenance issues in need of attention.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to protect and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Capable of learning and assisting with maintaining the facility in accordance with applicable Health Code requirements.
- Ability to make decisions with the best interest of both the city and the pool patrons.
- Ability to make rational decisions efficiently during variable conditions, including the ability to calmly interact with the public.
- Ability to operate a computer and computer software.
- Knowledge of and ability to complete basic cleaning and organizing tasks.
- Supervisory experience of at least one year.
- The applicant must pass a background check and drug test.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of college or equivalent experience preferred.
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard and/or Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements: Tasks involve frequent walking, standing; some lifting and carrying objects of heavy weight (25-75 lbs.); office equipment and hand tools in which manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations.
Environmental Requirements: Tasks may require frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as inclement weather, heat, and extreme cold.
Sensory Requirements: Tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Task requires oral communications ability.
