Observes construction projects to ensure materials and constructed works comply with plans and specifications by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:
- Observes work in progress to ensure that materials and constructed works conform to specifications.
- Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
- Interprets plans and specifications for contractors and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures, including change orders, to ensure compliance with regulations governing the construction.
- Prepares reports of activities, findings and observations and forwards to appropriate supervisor, project manager or regulatory agency.
- Maintains daily logs of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEAssociate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSNone
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, materials lists operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSMust have ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONSMust possess a valid driver license and have a clean driving record.
