Summary of

Job Duties

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) PRN at UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, providing direct patient care to individuals of all ages. This PRN role involves implementing therapeutic plans under the supervision of a physical therapist, focusing on promoting mobility, reducing pain, restoring function, and preventing disability. This PTA position will primarily treat residents in the Arkansas State Veterans Home, skilled nursing facility, and some patients in our outpatient therapy clinic.

Daily care will include gait training, balance exercises, strength training, endurance exercises, and functional mobility. Additionally, the PTA educates patients and caregivers, ensures compliance with UAMS policies and HIPAA standards, and operates and maintains physical therapy equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Current and valid licensure by the Arkansas State Board of Physical Therapy as a physical Therapist.
  • Assistant or eligible to apply for licensure.
  • Two (2) years of experience is preferred.
  • Current Arkansas license or eligible to apply and obtain license within one month of hire.
  • LSVT BIG or PWR! Moves certification is preferred.

    Ability to educate and assist patients in managing chronic conditions and promoting wellness.
  • Care Coordination:
    Skills in developing and implementing individualized health plans, collaborating with patients, families, and care providers, and coordinating outpatient follow-up.
  • Operational Excellence:
    Competence in maintaining accurate records, collecting payments, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies.
  • Adaptability and Independence:
    Capacity to work independently, maintain high-quality care standards, and adjust to changing workloads.
  • Professional Development:
    Commitment to ongoing training, skill assessments, and staff meetings to enhance competencies and support a culture of excellence.
Additional Information

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement therapeutic plans under the supervision of a physical therapist.

Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience.
