Position Details

Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Rohnert Park, CA

Pay Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year

Job Description and Responsibilities

Perform Manufacturing Engineering assignments of varying complexity, using discretion in determining work priorities to support all manufacturing engineering functions at the Rohnert Park site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for electro‑mechanical assemblies, including tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve test equipment and procedures for functional testing of components, sub‑assemblies (including PCBAs), and final assemblies.
  • Provide hands‑on support to the production floor, addressing process issues, equipment malfunctions, and quality concerns in real‑time.
  • Work with production staff to train new personnel on current production processes and give periodic training on proper assembly methods and equipment usage.
  • Analyze workflow and floor layout to meet manufacturing objectives and improve ergonomics.
  • Compile, evaluate, and provide technical analysis of test and production data.
  • Support technical matters related to engineering documentation and Engineering Change Notices.
  • Confere with management, Design Engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing processes by designing, recommending purchase, or building improved machines, tooling, fixtures, gauges, hand tools and processes.
  • Interface directly with suppliers to discuss product specifications and provide technical support.
  • Lead cost‑saving and quality‑improvement initiatives in collaboration with other functions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop effective countermeasures.
  • Evaluate and disposition non‑conforming material.
  • Evaluate designs to recommend improvements for manufacturability; participate in D/PFMEA during new product development.
  • Support new product introduction from inception through implementation, including development of test stands, tools, fixtures, and work instructions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and champion automation opportunities within the manufacturing environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge/Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role focused on electro‑mechanical products.

Skills and Aptitudes

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience with Solid Works CAD software.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with stepper motor control and motion control.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as I2C, RS‑232, RS‑485, USB.
  • Experience with programming languages relevant to test automation (VB6, LabVIEW, Python, C/C++).
  • Proficient using oscilloscopes, in‑circuit debuggers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electro‑mechanical systems and components, including electronics at the component level.
  • Experience with ERP systems (JDE preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Project management training and/or experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
