The Medical Instrument Courier is responsible for transporting the necessary sealed medical instruments of Phelps Health clinics both on and off campus.

• Collect sealed, soiled medical instrument containers from clinics and transport them to Sterile Processing with the provided vehicle.
• Ensure proper handling of biohazard and sterilized instrument procedures.
• Deliver containers of sealed, sterilized instruments from Sterile Processing to the specific clinic listed on the “instrument check list” form, maintaining required temperature and humidity.
• Collect allergy serums from the allergy department and transport to/from off‑campus clinics, ensuring temperature and proper form completion.
• Collect safety deposit bags from various departments and transport them to the banking institution.
• Keep a total count of all sealed instrument containers for each clinic.
• Provide non‑emergency patient transportation from residences to Phelps Health or affiliates.

• High School graduate or equivalent; ability to read, write, and follow directions.

• One year experience in a service‑related field, preferably healthcare or transportation; customer service skills required.

• American Heart Association basic life support certification and current Missouri driver’s class “E” license; annual driver’s exam required.

• Lifting up to 50 pounds without aids.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and learn policies.
• Annual physical and eye exam.

• May involve long periods of standing, walking or sitting in vehicle.
• Contact with out‑patients; may encounter unpleasant conditions during transportation.
