Patient Care Assistant Option - Medical Telemetry | Part-Time, P-Shift

Overview

Phelps Health, a 2000‑employee hospital system in small‑town Missouri, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support medical telemetry on a part‑time, P‑shift schedule. The PCA works under the general supervision of a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) and provides direct patient care while maintaining a safe environment for our patients and team.

• Follow hospital policy for patient safety, infection prevention, safe handling, and move patients; notify the licensed nurse when patient condition changes.
• Perform basic patient care duties under a licensed nurse, including vital signs, glucometer checks, toileting, feeding, bathing, and activity measures; support quality outcomes and patient safety.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to address basic patient needs and respond quickly to requests to enhance patient safety and experience.
• Document all patient care activities accurately to support clinical decision making of other health care team members.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate team members to improve patient outcomes and quality care.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• If uncertified or less than one year experience, must attend Phelps Health PCA Academy for training;
  American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment (BLS training is provided).
• Strong mental concentration; able to lift up to 35 lbs., perform turning, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and nearly constant walking.
• Frequent exposure to infectious disease via blood and other bodily fluids; may encounter hostile persons at times.
