RN - Surgery Services | Full-Time With Call | $5,000 Sign-On Bonus

General Summary

• The Registered Nurse works with anesthesia, surgeons, and other surgical personnel, assisting with patient care before, during, and after surgery. The RN uses sterile technique and technical equipment to perform surgical procedures.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Follow established hospital policies regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, critical lab notification, etc., to ensure patient care is provided in an optimally safe environment.
• Provide quality nursing care including administration of medications, nursing intervention, and patient and family teaching within guidelines established in hospital policy and procedure.
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments in all aspects of patient care to monitor patient status, improve quality, enhance patient safety, and provide accurate information to health care team members.
• Document accurately and efficiently all patient care activities and required quality monitoring items to support compliance with established quality measures (e.g., Core measures).
• Communicate to physicians and team members pertinent patient information to improve patient outcomes and quality care. Communicate to patient and family members in a timely manner that enhances the patient experience and promotes learning.
• Delegate appropriately to team members while fostering teamwork and accountability, demonstrating understanding of health‑care dynamics and adapting to change in a professional manner.
• Incorporate critical thinking into nursing practice and pursue skill development through continued education and educational opportunities.

Education

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Work Experience

• One year acute care experience preferred.

Certification/License

• Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact state required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

• Considerable mental concentration required.
• Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities and nearly constant walking required; standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to infectious disease and hostile persons at times.
• Exposure to communicable disease via blood and other body fluids.
• Minimal physical discomfort.
