RN – Psychiatry | 0.6 PT A-Shift

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence relevant to psychiatry and adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics.

• Follow established hospital policy regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, critical lab notification, etc., to provide patient care in a safe environment and maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections per policy.
• Provide quality nursing care including administration of medications, nursing interventions, and patient and family teaching within hospital guidelines.
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments in all aspects of patient care to monitor status, improve quality, enhance safety, and provide accurate information to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and required quality monitoring items to comply with quality measures and support clinical decision-making.
• Communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes; delegate as appropriate while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Communicate with patients and families timely to enhance experience and provide education to support health outcomes.
• Demonstrate critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

• One year experience preferred.

• Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses (GNs) must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).

• Concentration required; lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and nearly constant walking required.

• Frequent exposure to infectious disease and communicable disease via blood and other bodily fluids; may encounter hostile persons at times.
