American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring 2+ years of oncology nursing experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Requirements- Active MO or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, infusions, and central/PICC line care
- Experience managing oncologic emergencies including sepsis, anaphylaxis, and hemorrhage
- Experience administering chemotherapy and handling related body fluids
- Knowledge of pain management including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management
- Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies
- Skilled in wound care, chest tube management, and isolation/neutropenic precautions
- Work in the Medical Surgical Oncology unit of a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Provide direct care to oncology patients including chemotherapy administration and symptom management
- Coordinate care involving psychosocial support, advanced directives, and hospice care as needed
- Monitor for and respond to oncologic emergencies and abnormal lab values
- Travel experience not required, consideration dependent on relevant clinical background
