Brewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high‑technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. We are currently seeking a purpose‑driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Lab Technician (level I or II) located in Rolla, MO.

Summary

Lab Technicians and Specialists conduct research on various materials. They perform applicable tests, data entry, documentation, and other assigned tasks. They can troubleshoot issues, complete POS forms, and ship samples.

Responsibilities Lab Technician I
  • Prepare and process samples for specific tools, understanding the workflow and running LTS for trained tool‑sets as needed.
  • Perform routine and advanced testing on products, intermediates, and raw materials (e.g., physical property testing, chromatography, spectroscopy), ensuring accurate data collection and proper documentation.
  • Monitor and observe materials and processes, identifying non‑conformance and unusual behaviors, and escalating issues to supervisors or manufacturing when necessary.
  • Maintain test equipment and instruments, including performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting under supervision, and ensuring equipment is accurate and ready for use.
  • Use appropriate data acquisition, reporting, and documentation practices, including lab notebook entries, spreadsheets, and shared server locations.
  • Contribute to study execution and retesting processes, ensuring flagged materials or controls are addressed through proper protocols.
  • Write and revise test procedures, supporting continuous improvement and standardization of lab practices.
  • Comply with cleanroom and safety protocols, performing housekeeping and clean‑up tasks to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Participate as an active team member, assisting project teams and supporting collaborative lab efforts.
  • Show initiative in lab operations, including minimizing unprocessed samples and assisting with data mining or historical data compilation.
Lab Technician II
  • Same duties as Lab Technician I.
  • Additional Duties as Lab Technician II:
    • Operate and maintain laboratory and metrology equipment (e.g., spectrophotometers, chromatographs), including routine upkeep, alignments, running controls, and minor troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
    • Conduct laboratory tests and experiments to support R&D, quality control, and production processes, using various analytical techniques to ensure compliance with quality standards.
    • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross‑functional teams to develop, troubleshoot, or improve products and processes based on customer or project requirements.
    • Characterize developmental and commercial materials and processes, potentially modifying recipes or methods on specific equipment.
    • Analyze experimental data, prepare reports, and effectively communicate results to relevant stakeholders.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of procedures, observations, and outcomes in compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
    • Assist in preparing standards and controls, support method audits, and help manage documentation (e.g., SOPs, specification sheets, DAFs).
    • Participate in cross‑training and equivalent testing at other facilities to support operational consistency and flexibility.
Education & Credentials Lab Technician I
  • High school diploma or equivalent and
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Lab Technician II
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field or
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
