Overview
Physical Therapist Clinical Resident - 2025 at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center. A twelve-month residency program to prepare a licensed physical therapist in an area of specialization through advanced training and to meet the requirements established by the APTA to sit for the ABPTS specialty examination. Evaluates, plans, directs, and administers programs of Physical Therapy to restore function, prevent disability, and enhance physical and functional abilities.
May be required to provide coverage throughout Atrium Health facilities as needed. Direct patient care time is limited to approximately 75% of a typical full-time caseload to allow time for advanced learning activities.
- Evaluates patients, selects and administers assessment techniques, and develops care plans including modalities, procedures, exercise programs, therapeutic groups, and patient education based on diagnosis, condition, age, and discharge needs.
- Gathers and interprets data from medical records, physician reports, patients, and families; documents evaluations, tests, progress notes, daily treatment notes, education, outcomes, and discharge notes as needed.
- Communicates evaluations and progress to physicians, referral sources, and other clinical staff; coordinates patient schedules, treatment programs, and discharge planning.
- May cross-cover at other Atrium Health departments following orientation and competency completion.
- Provides supervision of PTAs and Rehab Techs/Aides as required for licensure.
- Completes required residency program activities and assignments.
- Maintains access to PHI only as reasonably necessary for job duties and follows privacy practices.
Job Requirements
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy program required.
- Certification / License: Georgia license for Physical Therapy required;
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association required. - Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles and adapts care to ages, cultures, development stages, and patient needs; hearing, vision, speech, and cognitive abilities adequate for job duties; physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and transfers; PPE appropriate for exposure to hazards; work in fast-paced clinical environment.

Pay Range: $32.45 - $48.70
