Primary Role in the Organization

Establish and maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all NRI associates, while ensuring compliance with all applicable OSHA and EPA regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct associate training on a variety of environmental, health and safety topics
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations and maintain their records
  • Conducts and maintains Hazardous Waste Management training and procedures
  • Conduct environmental, health, safety and internal audits
  • Input and maintain all incident reports
  • Assist with ISO 14001 activities
  • Provide CPR/First Aid to injured associates, if needed. Take care of BBP's as needed
  • Security Administrator
  • Maintain Regulatory Compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT)
  • Schedule, organize and arrange payment for Waste removal and EHS supplies
  • Coordinate vendor (i.e. shoe truck, prescription eyewear) activities
  • Conduct new equipment safety reviews
  • Develop, implement, maintain and enforce company safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct, oversee or assist safety inspections (Extinguishers, eye wash, light curtain)
  • Assist with corrective action development and implementation activities (i.e. 5P)
  • Oversee safety committee activities
  • Support 6S program
  • Support all international standard certifications obtained by the company, including meeting customer requirements, delivering intended process outputs, identifying and communicating opportunities for improvement and following all document control program requirements
  • Maintain organization of Hazardous Waste Storage Building
  • Insurance Claim Contact (Property, BWC)
  • Responsible for conforming to the IATF 16749, ISO 14001:2015 standards, and customers requirements
  • Any other duties as needed/required
Qualifications

A. Experience

  • At least two years of related work experience
  • At least one year experience conducting associate training classes

B. Education

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent Job Experience
Requirements

A. Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to sit and perform data entry for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to wear and work in respiratory protection
  • Must be able to work around and with a variety of chemicals
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights

B. Equipment Usage

  • Computer Experience (i.e. Email, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, various databases)
  • Basic Office Equipment (i.e. Copier, Telephone, Etc.)
  • Powered Industrial Truck
  • High Lift and Aerial Platform
  • Confined Space Meter
  • Anemometer

C. Mental/Cognitive Demands

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime at short notice
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and EPA regulations
  • Working knowledge of Ohio worker's compensation system
  • Ability to develop training programs on various environmental, health and safety topics
  • Ability to work unsupervised and prioritize projects
  • Ability to work effectively under stress with short deadlines
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in work requirements or assignments
  • Good public speaking (i.e. training) skills
  • Good analytical and mechanical acumen
  • Excellent attendance record

D. Training Requirements

  • Maintain HAZWOPER 40 HR Certification
  • Maintain RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Certification
  • Maintain DOT Certification
Preferred Skills
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • OSHA 10 hour Certification
