About the Role

We are looking for hard‑working, reliable and safety‑minded individuals to join our team as a Laborer at SA Recycling
. As an Operations Labor, you will be responsible for unloading, processing, and disassembling various types of scrap metal; maintaining the yard; and performing general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe and effective manner.

• Unloading pallets, boxes, and bundles. Forklift operations required.
• Material handling / sorting – pushing, pulling, picking, lifting, carrying, and filling up hoppers, boxes, and conveyor belts.
• Unpacking boxes using box cutters and separating plastics, zip ties, blister packs, and other packaging materials.
• Disassembling small equipment, cutting wires, torqueing pipe fittings, removing bolts, automobile parts, and appliance parts.
• Operating recycling equipment for metal processing (e.g., metal shears, band saw, and wire strippers).
• Direct traffic of yard vehicles traveling through the yard.
• Light facility maintenance – painting, scraping, moving furniture and equipment.
• Maintenance – selecting and using tools properly, pulling and installing parts for machinery, assisting in machinery repair.
• Housekeeping – sweeping, cleaning, shoveling, and debris collection.
• Moderate and periodic landscaping work.
• Cleaning up work area at the end of shift.
• Torch cutting/burning may be included for fill‑ins (torch experience required).
• Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
• Organizing materials for more effective use of space.
• Disposing of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
• Inspecting to ensure cleanup is completed.
• Effective housekeeping in the workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members. Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.

• Torch cutting or burning experience required for fill‑in duties.
• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
• Bi‑lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
• Ability to communicate with others effectively; understand written or oral directions and use basic math skills as the job demands.
• Willingness to learn how to sort metal, identify colors, shapes, and weights; properly maintain equipment; and properly utilize PPE.

Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and SA Recycling safety, health, and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
