Registered Nurse (RN) | General Surgery/Trauma Step Down Unit | Days (Part time – 24 hours per week)

Atrium Health Floyd invites applications for a Part‑time Registered Nurse to support the U.S. unit for women, children, and adults undergoing general surgery and trauma recovery. The RN will work two 12‑hour shifts (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) per week and may be called to float within the service area.

• Pay Range: $34.90 – $52.35 per hour

• Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence‑based practices.
• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families.
• Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence outcomes.
• Uphold and promote a culture of safety.
• Continuously evaluate outcomes and take appropriate actions.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely per protocols.
• Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and delegation.
• Maintain professional development, required education, and certifications per ANA Code of Ethics.
• Appropriate delegation to other RN, LPN, and unlicensed personnel.
• Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
• May float to other units or facilities as needed.

• Graduate of a Board‑approved nursing education program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS); additional certifications may be required.
• Active, unrestricted RN license (multi‑state compact or single‑state) with privileges to practice in the state(s).
• 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, time management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems (E‑mail, EHR, digital platforms).
• Ability to perform physical tasks: sit, stand, walk, lift up to 35 lbs, push/pull 30 lbs, transfer 150 lbs with assistance. Functional speech, vision, hearing, and fine motor skills for IV insertion.
• Readiness to respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions; physical testing may be required.
