Postdoctoral Fellowship – Ancient and Modern Ekphrasis
Prof. Alessandro Stavru invites scholars to submit expressions of interest to work jointly with Prof. Alessandro Stavru and the Research Centre “Metabole” on a Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA‑PF) focused on any subject related to ancient and modern ekphrasis.
As host and supervisor, I will oversee projects dealing with ekphrasis in antiquity (from Homer to early Byzantine authors), its relevance to rhetorics and the history of art (especially in Antiquity and the Renaissance), and its connection to contemporary debates on the pictorial turn.
The Research Centre “Metabole” at the University of Verona studies the impact of emotions on philosophy, rhetorics, and human practices, as well as related topics such as PWL, Askesis, and non‑medical forms of cure and care.
Selected candidates will receive academic and administrative support from the Centre, the Department, and the University of Verona Grant Office to prepare their proposals.
Eligibility
Must hold a PhD by the call).
Must have up to 8 years of research experience after the PhD.
Must be a citizen of an EU State, an Associated Country, or a long‑term resident in Europe (for the Global Fellowship).
May not have resided or carried out their main activity in Italy for more than 12 months in the 36 months before the call deadline (for the European Fellowship).
May not have resided or carried out their main activity in the host country’s third country for more than 12 months in the 36 months before the call deadline (for the Global Fellowship).
Candidates should be fluent in English and demonstrate excellent teamwork, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
