MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship Intercomprehension/Receptive Multilingualism
Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures invites scholars to present expressions of interest in applying jointly with Jacopo Saturno for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) on Intercomprehension (Receptive Multilingualism and Translanguaging), preferably in relation to Slavic languages.
Intercomprehension (also known as Receptive Multilingualism and Translanguaging; henceforth IC for brevity) refers to the possibility of understanding a language one has never studied intentionally thanks to its similarity to a known “bridge” language. IC has relevant implications for several fields, including Second Language Acquisition, language teaching, the revitalization of endangered languages, and language policies more generally.
More particularly, Jacopo Saturno’s research focuses on the development of plurilingualism through the IC-based teaching of additional foreign languages based on existing competence in related languages. All instructional settings are eligible, from preschool (e.g. éveil aux langues) to lifelong learning. Proposals on Slavic languages are particularly welcome.
