Academic discipline:  PHYS-02/A - THEORETICAL PHYSICS OF FUNDAMENTAL INTERACTIONS, MODELS, MATHEMATICAL METHODS AND APPLICATIONS

Specific duties of the researcher (job description):

Type of teaching duties:  The teaching activity will be performed within the courses belonging to the Scientific disciplinary sector PHYS-02/A and, in particular, will be based on the teaching plan of the physics courses of the Politecnico of Bari, held in Bari and Taranto and in tutoring and supporting activities for students for a total of 350 hours per year.

Research activities:  The open position is intended for a researcher who will carry out internationally competitive scientific research in the areas typical of the academic discipline referred to in point a, and in particular in the areas of theoretical physics related to the dynamics of quantum systems and quantum information.

Maximum number of publications to be submitted for the evaluation:  12 (twelve)

Method of ascertaining the degree of knowledge of English:  English language proficiency will be assessed based on the English-language publications submitted. The committee may also decide to assess the candidate's English language proficiency through an in-person interview.

Campo principale di ricerca:  Theoretical physics, with a focus on the dynamics of quantum systems, quantum control, and quantum information.

Specific Requirements

1) Advanced knowledge of quantum information theory, quantum control, quantum metrology, and the dynamics of open quantum systems;

2) Knowledge and experience in the development and analysis of mathematical and computational methods for quantum systems, with applications to resource theory, random states, and quantum machine learning.

Esperienza di ricerca richieste:  Established experience in the development and analysis of mathematical models and computational methods for the dynamics and control of quantum systems and for quantum information theory.
