Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship on Logic for Practical Reasoning
Fabio Aurelio D’Asaro invites scholars to present expressions of interest in applying jointly with the EThOS Research Group for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) on Logic for Practical Reasoning.
The hosting offer welcomes projects on non-monotonic reasoning, depth-bounded or resource-bounded inference, formal argumentation, logic programming, and reasoning about actions, interaction, and decision-making. Particularly encouraged are proposals that connect symbolic and formal models of practical reasoning with empirical or computational approaches to human cognition. In line with the MSCA emphasis on two-way knowledge transfer, especially welcome are applicants who can bring methods or perspectives from neighbouring disciplines such as experimental psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, or data-driven AI, thus complementing the host's strengths in logic, formal epistemology, and symbolic AI.
Hosting research group / Supervisor
We are looking for applicants for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship to be presented with our Centre / Department as main host institution.
Fabio Aurelio D'Asaro works at the interface of logic and AI, with expertise in non‑monotonic, probabilistic, and temporal reasoning, formal argumentation, logic programming (ASP/ILASP), reasoning about actions and change, bounded reasoning, and explainable and trustworthy AI. His recent work has especially focused on logic for practical reasoning under limited resources, including depth‑boundedness, defeasible inference, and human- and agent‑centred interaction. The host environment is therefore particularly suitable for projects that combine rigorous formal methods with interdisciplinary questions concerning cognition, behaviour, interaction, or responsible AI.
Selected candidates will be offered both academic and administrative support from the Centre / Department and the University of Verona Grant Office with regards to the proposal preparation.
Eligibility
Candidates must be eligible according to the criteria established by the 2026 MSCA Postdoctoral fellowship call:

To have a PhD at the call)
To have up to 8 years research experience after PhD
To be citizens of an EU State or of an Associated Country or long-term resident in Europe (only for Global Fellowship)
Not to have resided or carried their main activity in Italy for more than 12 in the 36 months before call) – for European Fellowship
Not to have resided or carried their main activity in the country of the Host Institution in the third country for more than 12 in the 36 months before call) – for a Global Fellowship.

Besides, candidates should be fluent in English, should have excellent teamwork attitude, organizational skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.

A short CV including personal data (name, date of birth, present position, the name of a referee who has agreed to send a reference letter for you)
