The Digital Arena for Inclusive Humanities (DAIH)  (University of Verona), directed by Prof. Dr. Marco Rospocher , invites outstanding early-career researchers in Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence  to express their interest in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF 2026)  with DAIH as host institution.

DAIH offers a scientifically ambitious and interdisciplinary environment where state-of-the-art AI  meets  languages, literary studies, and inclusive innovation . We seek candidates eager to advance methods in Knowledge Representation, Natural Language Processing, Semantic Technologies, and Information Retrieval , with a strong interest in responsible and inclusive AI .

We welcome MSCA-PF proposals that develop  novel AI methods, resources, and/or applications  aligned with one or more of the following themes:

Natural Language Processing  and the extraction of  high-quality knowledge  from textual resources (including cultural heritage and scholarly corpora).

Knowledge representation  and robust semantic modelling of extracted knowledge; automated reasoning to generate new insights from text-derived evidence.

Semantic Web ,  Linked Data , and interoperability-by-design: resources and applications following best practices in open, reusable, and  FAIR
-oriented data ecosystems.

Information and document retrieval : improved ranking, retrieval-augmented methods, evaluation, and user‑centred access to complex textual collections.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion : measuring and mitigating  (social) bias  in language technologies; developing methods that  support inclusion  and  reduce discrimination  in knowledge access.

Proposals may be methodological (core AI), applied (AI for DH), or hybrid—provided they are  scientifically rigorous  and deliver  clear impact  consistent with MSCA evaluation criteria.

Hosting research group / Supervisor

DAIH is an interdisciplinary hub dedicated to  digital technologies and computational methods for languages and literary studies , with a centre‑wide commitment to  inclusion  across research, infrastructure, training, and dissemination. Established within the Italian  Departments of Excellence 2023–2027  funding framework (MUR), DAIH promotes sustained collaboration between AI and the humanities to address societal challenges related to inequalities and discrimination.

Prof. Dr. Marco Rospocher  provides long‑standing expertise in AI, particularly in  Knowledge and Natural Language Processing , and will supervise the fellow throughout proposal preparation and the project implementation.

Selected candidates will also receive  academic and administrative support  from DAIH and the  University of Verona Grant Office  for proposal development and submission.

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be eligible according to the criteria established by the 2026 MSCA Postdoctoral fellowship call:

To have a PhD at the call)

To have up to 8 years research experience after PhD

To be citizens of an EU State or of an Associated Country or long‑term resident in Europe (only for Global Fellowship)

Not to have resided or carried their main activity in Italy for more than 12 in the 36 months before call) – for European Fellowship

Not to have resided or carried their main activity in the country of the Host Institution in the third country for more than 12 in the 36 months before call) – for a Global Fellowship.

Besides, candidates should be fluent in English, should have excellent teamwork attitude, organizational skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
