Prof. Alessandro Stavru invites scholars to present expressions of interest in applying jointly with Prof. Alessandro Stavru/Research Centre “Metabole”for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) on any subject related to the Socratic Dialogue.
I will host and supervise any project dealing with the figure and thought of Socrates, his historical context, and the sources of evidence concerning him. Specifically, I welcome projects related to reactions to Socrates, positive and negative, the first generation of the Socratic movement, and the history of the reception of Socrates from Antiquity to the present Age.

We are looking for applicants for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship to be presented with our Centre as main host institution.
I have been working on Socrates and the Socratic Dialogue in the past two decades. I am a co‑organizer of previous Socratica colloquiums (2005, 2008, 2012), the Co‑Editor of the Proceedings arising from them, and a member of the executive committee of the International Society for Socratic Studies. I am a co‑editor of the series “Socratic Studies” (de Gruyter) and “International Socrates Studies” (Nomos).
In Verona, I work at the Research Centre “Metabole”, where we study the impact of emotions on philosophy, culture as a whole, and human practices and relations. We also study connected topics such as PWL (Philosophy as a Way of Life), Askesis (ancient and modern), non‑medical forms of cure/care (both of the self and the other).
Selected candidates will be offered both academic and administrative support from the Centre / Department and the University of Verona Grant Office with regards to the proposal preparation.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be eligible according to the criteria established by the 2026 MSCA Postdoctoral fellowship call:
To have a PhD at the call)
To have up to 8 years research experience after PhD
To be citizens of an EU State or of an Associated Country or long‑term resident in Europe (only for Global Fellowship)
Not to have resided or carried their main activity in Italy for more than 12 in the 36 months before call) – for European Fellowship
Not to have resided or carried their main activity in the country of the Host Institution in the third country for more than 12 in the 36 months before call deadline (September 9, 2026) – for a Global Fellowship.
Besides, candidates should be fluent in English, should have excellent teamwork attitude, organizational skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
