GENIUS is a Marie Sklodowska‑Curie doctoral network funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe program. It pioneers a comprehensive approach to address the energy sector’s challenge of transitioning to renewable‑based, energy‑efficient heating and cooling systems. Energy geostructures (EGs) – dual‑purpose elements for geothermal heat exchange and structural support – are explored as a sustainable solution for the world’s largest energy consumption sector.
The network will develop advanced analysis and design tools for EGs (WP‑1) and advance scientific knowledge for their integration with buildings and infrastructure (WP‑2 and WP‑3). Doctoral candidates will be trained to become pioneering experts in conceptualization, design, and implementation of EG applications, gaining skills that are highly attractive for industry and stakeholders.

Position Details
The position is a 36‑month employment contract with competitive conditions and salary adapted to the cost of living in each host country, set by the MSCA Doctoral Networks.
The successful candidate will receive a financial package plus an additional mobility and family allowance according to the rules for DCs in MSCA Doctoral Networks.
Family allowance: If applicable and depending on the family situation: 660 euro/month. For the purposes of the MSCA, family is defined as "persons linked to the researcher by marriage (or a relationship with equivalent status to a marriage recognised by the legislation of the country where this relationship was formalised) or dependent children who are actually being maintained by the researcher".
Amount indicated for living allowance, mobility allowance, and family allowance are gross amounts before taxation and compulsory deductions.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must not already possess a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment.
Candidates who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree will not be considered eligible.
DCs must be recruited and enrolled in a doctoral programme leading to a doctoral degree in at least one EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country.
Candidates can be of any nationality.
Candidates must comply with the mobility rule: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their recruitment date.
