Operating at the intersection of science, innovation and business, the office drives research translation through intellectual property management, venture creation, licensing and strategic partnerships with industry and investors, while fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the institute.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic leader to establish and lead Human Technopole's Technology Transfer Office. In this newly created role, you will build the function from the ground up, working closely with researchers, institutional leadership, industry and investors to translate scientific discoveries into real‑world impact through licensing, spin‑outs and strategic partnerships. Combining strategic vision with hands‑on execution, you will help shape Human Technopole's innovation ecosystem.
Your mission
Establish and lead Human Technopole's Technology Transfer Office, defining its strategy, operating model and policies while fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Identify and translate high-potential research into commercial opportunities through intellectual property, patent strategy, licensing and venture creation.
Build and manage strategic relationships with researchers, industry partners, investors and the broader innovation ecosystem to maximise the impact of Human Technopole's research.
Represent Human Technopole nationally and internationally, promoting best practices in technology transfer and strengthening external collaborations.
Build and develop a high-performing Technology Transfer team, defining processes, mentoring colleagues and driving continuous improvement.
Expand your influence and leadership
This is a unique opportunity to build and lead Human Technopole's Technology Transfer Office from the ground up. You will shape the institute's innovation strategy, influence the translation of world‑class research into real‑world impact, and build lasting partnerships across academia, industry and the investment community.
What you'll bring
Essentials (all eligibility requirements must be met by the Final date to receive applications).
PhD/MD or equivalent scientific training.
Strong international experience in technology transfer (Europe and beyond);
Italian candidates with significant international exposure are welcome.
Experience building and managing an IP portfolio, licensing opportunities and establishing relationships with key partners, e.g. academic, industry, investors and other external stakeholders.
Preferred
Significant experience in technology transfer, venture building or related innovation roles, with a proven track record in translating research into startups, licensing deals or commercial outcomes.
Life sciences background preferred
Experience leading or developing a Technology Transfer or Innovation team.
Experience working within a life sciences research organisation, university or similar research‑intensive environment.
