Metropolitan Industries, Inc. is a multiple market sales and service organization in the water & wastewater and Commercial plumbing & HVAC markets both locally and on a national basis. For more than 50 years this company located in Romeoville, Illinois, has provided technical sales expertise, engineering, and end-user service to municipal and commercial customers in Illinois and has recently expanded customer base across the country.

Responsibilities

And Duties
  • Create control schematics and panel layouts for PLC based control systems utilizing variable frequency drives.
  • Create project submittal packages for approval by outside reviewing engineers and customers.
  • Understand specifications, standards, and the National Electric Code.
  • Communicate effectively with our sales department to collect all relevant information relating to specific job and designing the system.
  • Analyze and interpret design drawings and specifications to develop accurate and timely electrical take-offs.
  • Determine and design value-engineered prefab solutions according to plans and specifications.
  • Provide complete project management that includes submittal package, control schematics, panel layouts for construction and generating itemized bill of material.
  • Ensure that drawings comply with internal and customer drawing standards.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
  • Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
  • Required to have proper and accurate entry into the time and attendance system.
  • Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
Qualifications And Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Technology or a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of National Electric Code.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives is a plus.
  • Experience with Acumatica for Estimates, Inventory, and Bill of Material creation is a plus.
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical wiring a must.
  • Exposure to ISA drawing standards a plus.
  • Familiarity with pumps and pump systems a plus.
  • Good written and oral communication skills required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Team player, flexible, self-motivated.
