Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist

Reporting to the Sr Environmental, Health, & Safety Manager, this position will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across manufacturing, warehousing, and office operations. This role works closely with employees, supervisors, and managers to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate EHS requirements.
Responsibilities- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, policies, and compliance plans.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, observations, and risk assessments to ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, FAA, fire codes, and internal standards.
- Lead or participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and property damage, ensuring timely corrective actions, documentation, and prevention of recurrence.
- Coordinate and deliver EHS-related training to employees and contractors, ensuring appropriate documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and maintain internal and external reporting, including regulatory submissions related to air, stormwater, surface water, hazardous waste, and other environmental discharges.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact for regulatory agency inspections, permitting, and compliance reporting.
- Stay current on changes in safety and environmental regulations and recommend updates to company policies and practices as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve EHS risks and drive continuous improvement.
- Actively participate in manufacturing and safety meetings to address regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and improvement opportunities.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by modeling safe behaviors, engaging with employees, and reinforcing company EHS values and expectations.
- Assist with the administration and oversight of the workers’ compensation program, including claims follow-up and return-to-work efforts.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with employees at all levels to support EHS initiatives and foster engagement.
- Support special projects and company initiatives related to safety, health, environmental compliance, and sustainability.
- Holds a Bachelor of Science in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or equivalent.
- Has a minimum of 3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Possesses working knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance programs.
- Has strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Is proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with EHS management systems a plus.
- Has the ability to be on call or work off hours as needed.
- Has demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Exercises sound judgment in handling sensitive and sometimes confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of EHS principles, tools, and practices applicable to industrial environments.
- Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages time, and coordinates multiple initiatives to meet deadlines and operational goals.
- Uses data and critical thinking to identify issues, evaluate solutions, and make informed, timely decisions.
- Builds productive relationships across all levels and effectively communicates and influences to drive safety and compliance culture.
- Maintains attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and system data entry to ensure integrity and compliance.
- OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry)
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) a plus.
Typical pay is $63,550 – 82,513 annually.
This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
