The individual must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and over 50 lbs with mechanical devices.

Summary:

A press operator will perform complex printing jobs, including set-up and troubleshooting, and will produce products efficiently in alignment with business goals and KPIs to the highest quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Technical Duties:
    • Operate, set-up, and troubleshoot flexographic printing presses and auxiliary equipment in accordance with production standards and productivity goals.
    • Utilize product specs (copy card), change plates, cylinders, and dies.
  • Maintain machines by performing basic maintenance including lubricants, replace minor parts, and request major maintenance when necessary.
  • Maintain work area using 5S methods.
  • Report machine and equipment malfunctions to the group leader, maintenance and/or supervisor.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Cross-train and work on multiple press lines and equipment as needed.
  • Quality Control: follow all quality inspection plans, measure, check, and test various processes and product parameters; meet established goals for scrap and yield.
  • Collaboration:

    coordinate production activities with plant leadership and departments (engineering, procurement, customer service, logistics) to address technical issues, standardize processes, and optimize supply chain processes.
  • Process Improvement: identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction; support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Health and Safety: operate machines safely and in accordance with regulations; report unsafe conditions or accidents immediately; provide improvement suggestions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by floor or plant leadership.
Qualifications
  • Education and/or

    Experience:

    Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 1–3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Other

    Skills and Abilities:

    Basic math and ruler use; able to read, write, speak, and understand English to communicate with coworkers and follow instructions.
  • Vision and color perception: ability to focus, good vision, and color differentiation as determined by testing; strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Physical Demands: capable of the physical requirements described (standing, lifting, etc.) with reasonable accommodations as needed.
Work Environment
  • Contact with moving mechanical systems is common.
  • Exposure to non-hazardous fumes may occur.
  • Noise level may be loud; hearing protection may be required.
  • Eye protection may be required.
  • Possible contact with certain chemicals (hazardous and non-hazardous).
