Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor. The Santiaton HVAC Technician is responsible to cleans and inspects the cooling units throughout the plant in accordance with the SSOP and at a frequency stated on the MSS. Report condition of cooling units and communicate to supervisor any issues observed or any repairs needed. In order to become a successful member of the Sanitation department, a person must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, able to keep up in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work as assigned while adhering to high standards associated with safety and workmanship.
• Wear proper PPE (safety goggles, harness, personal respirator, steel-toed safety boots, rainsuit)
• Use basic tools to disassemble, reassemble and clean cooling units. (Size 7 / 16 ratcheting wrench, multi-bit screwdriver, fan balde / wheel puller, handheld sprayer, water nozzle)
• Inspect ariel lift and complete documentation prior to each use.
• Responsible for the safe operation of ariel lifts.
• Inspect tools and power washing equipment prior to each use.
• Responsible for the safe operation of pressure washer.
• Understands and adheres to established safety programs (lockout / tag out, ladder safety, etc.)
• Read and abide by the use and warning labels of cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain proper logs and records of units cleaned on document 03.03.01 (Master Sanitation Schedule) and document  (Evaporators Cooling Unit Cleaning Locations.)
• Complete sanitation work orders as needed.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Other duties as may be assigned or volunteered for.
• Adheres to all GMP guidelines in the performance of job.

• Proactive in communicating and dealing with issues that arise.
• Har d-working, dependable, safety and quality consci ous.
• Possesses good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and to communicate effectively with others.
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Available to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
• Proper and safe use of hand tools and power washer.
• Able to work on elevated platf orms safely for extended per iods of time.

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Proficiency Level

Required

• High school diploma , or equiva lent .
• Reading, writing, and basic math skills required.
• Certified (or able to be certified) to operate boom lift and scissor lift.
• Knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and power tools.

Preferred

• 3-5 experience working in a food manufacturing facility
• Bilingual English / Spanish

Standing / Walking

These functions require the employee to be standing or walking 100% of the time. Majority of time is spent standing at elevated hights on an ariel lift.

Lifting / Carrying / Twisting / Bending / Stooping

The employee is expected to carry, twist, bend, and stoop in conjunction with frequent lifting between 10 to 50 pounds of supplies and equipment.

Handling / Fingering / Feeling

Hand and finger movement is required frequently to disassemble, reassemble, wash, and clean units, operate lifts, and store supplies.

Exposure to Temperature Changes

This occurs frequently when cleaning units in different areas of the facility.
