Food Processing Line Operator & Material Handling Technician
Great Kitchens Food Company is hiring for a role in Romeoville, IL. This position keeps our production lines moving, safe, and accurate while handling materials and documentation.
Pay rangeBase pay: $17.00/hr – $18.00/hr

Reporting to:
Production Shift Supervisor
- Set up and operate sauce pump equipment and support machinery.
- Supply raw and dry materials to production lines; maintain required minimums.
- Accurately record material usage; return materials with exact counts/weights following food safety procedures.
- Apply the correct labels for each SKU and assist with label and ribbon changes.
- Palletize per BOM, complete pallet tags (one on pallet, one copy retained), and wrap pallets 4× at waist height.
- Move finished pallets via pallet jack to designated pickup locations.
- Inspect the manufacturing line for operational/mechanical issues; take corrective action or notify supervision/management.
- Remove damaged/broken pallets from circulation and set aside.
- Follow GMPs; use only good wood pallets and never step on pallets.
- Communicate with the Line Lead whenever you must leave the line.
- Maintain line speeds and standards; ensure product quality and consistency during processing.
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and audit‑ready.
- Support other areas as needed; perform other duties as assigned or volunteered.
Complete a structured training program with clear exit criteria. Your comprehension may be verified through written, verbal, and/or hands‑on demonstrations.
Food Safety & Quality- Uphold the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety (Issue
9) and all site procedures. - Proactively flag any food safety or quality concerns to supervision and/or Quality Assurance.
- Immediately report any risks or potential out‑of‑spec product, equipment, packaging, or raw materials to a designated manager.
- This role carries responsibility for food safety and legal compliance within the scope of your duties.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual:
English/Spanish.
- Food and beverage manufacturing
- Material handling in a production environment
- Packaging line operations
- Machine setups for production runs
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands; handle or feel objects.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
