Job Description

This role is an Estimator – Oak Fire Protection based in Romford, Uxbridge, Leicester, and Solihull.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for passive fire protection works, including fire stopping, fireproof coatings, fire doors, and compartmentation systems.
  • Analyse project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine material and labour costs.
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies while ensuring profitability.
  • Ensure estimates align with fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Keep up to date with the latest passive fire protection products, materials, and best practices.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain the best pricing and material specifications.
  • Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to refine estimates and scope of work.
  • Provide technical advice and solutions to clients regarding fire protection systems.
  • Attend pre‑tender and post‑tender meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and breakdowns of costs for management review.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities and efficiencies within project budgets.
About You
  • Experience in estimating within the passive fire protection industry or a related construction sector.
  • Passive Fire Protection experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards (e.g., BS 476, EN 1366, ASFP guidelines).
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Excel, or specialist fire protection estimating tools).
  • A relevant qualification in construction, fire protection, or quantity surveying is desirable but not essential.
