Milk Education are working in partnership with a large, inclusive secondary academy in East London to appoint a dynamic and committed Male PE Teacher to join their team after the Easter break.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner to join a thriving PE department within a well-established and ambitious school community.

About the School

This is a successful 11–18 mixed secondary academy located in Romford, serving a diverse and vibrant local community. With approximately 1,500 students on roll, including a growing sixth form provision, the school is oversubscribed and highly regarded within the borough.

The academy is part of a respected multi-academy trust, offering strong leadership, clear strategic direction, and excellent professional development opportunities. Senior leaders are visible, supportive, and committed to maintaining high standards across teaching, learning, and behaviour.

The school benefits from modern facilities, including a well-equipped sports hall, outdoor multi-use games areas, extensive playing fields, and a fully resourced fitness suite. The PE department is well established, with a strong track record of success in both curriculum delivery and extra-curricular sport. Students regularly participate in borough-wide competitions and enrichment activities.

There is a clear and consistently applied behaviour policy, creating a structured and purposeful learning environment. Staff are supported by a dedicated pastoral team, ensuring that teachers can focus on delivering high-quality lessons. The school places a strong emphasis on character education, resilience, and personal development alongside academic achievement.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach Physical Education across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 desirable but not essential)

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging practical and theoretical PE lessons

  • Promote participation in extra-curricular sport and enrichment activities

  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management and uphold the school’s high expectations

  • Act as a positive male role model within the department and wider school community

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to continue driving standards forward

This role is open to experienced teachers and confident Early Career Teachers with strong classroom presence and a passion for sport and physical education.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Has strong subject knowledge across a range of sports and physical activities

  • Can motivate and inspire students of all abilities

  • Demonstrates excellent classroom and behaviour management skills

  • Is reliable, proactive, and committed to contributing to school life
