Health & Social Care Lecturer – UK Graduate College
Location: Romford, UK
Department: Academic (Teaching)
Salary: £35,000–£38,000 per year

Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality teaching across Health & Social Care programmes, ensuring strong student attainment, progression and satisfaction
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with awarding body specifications and institutional academic standards
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and learning materials that support diverse learning needs
- Assess student work in accordance with awarding body and internal quality assurance requirements
- Provide timely, constructive and developmental feedback that demonstrably supports student progress
- Maintain accurate assessment, attendance and progression records in line with regulatory and compliance frameworks
- Participate in internal verification and standardisation processes, ensuring consistency and rigour in assessment decisions
- Monitor student performance using data to identify underachievement and implement timely interventions
- Contribute to curriculum development to ensure content remains current, industry-relevant and aligned with sector developments
- Support enrichment and employability initiatives, including guest speakers, trips and employer engagement activities
- Maintain high standards of classroom management and foster a positive, respectful and professional learning environment
- Engage in continuous professional development to remain current in both pedagogical practice and Health & Social Care policy and legislation
- Contribute to quality assurance activities, including internal reviews and external awarding body audits
- Undertake additional duties commensurate with the role as reasonably requested by the Head of Department or Senior Leadership Team
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a degree in Health & Social Care or a closely related discipline
- Possess (or be willing to work towards) a recognised teaching qualification appropriate to Further or Higher Education
- Have experience delivering Health & Social Care programmes, ideally including BTEC qualifications
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of assessment and internal verification processes
- Show strong subject knowledge, including awareness of current health and social care legislation and professional standards
- Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills
- Be confident using data to monitor and improve student performance
- Demonstrate commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
- Be proactive, adaptable and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
