AOV Smoke Vent Designer / Estimator – Romford - £60,000

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AOV Smoke Vent Designer / Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and estimating Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) smoke control systems for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
You will work closely with project managers, clients, consultants, and contractors to produce compliant designs and accurate cost estimates in line with relevant standards and building regulations.

Salary Package:

£45,000 - £60,000
Company Car Or Car Allowance
25 Days Holidays

Key Responsibilities

Design AOV smoke ventilation systems for stairwells, corridors, and smoke shafts.
Produce system layouts, schematics, and technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for smoke ventilation systems.
Review architectural drawings, fire strategies, and specifications.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards including:
BS EN 12101
Building Regulations Approved Document B
BS 9991 / BS 9999 where applicable

Liaise with architects, fire engineers, consultants, and contractors.
Support project teams during tender and pre-construction stages.
Prepare technical submissions, equipment schedules, and design calculations.
Value engineer designs where appropriate to meet project budgets.
Assist with technical queries and client support throughout project delivery.

Requirements

Experience designing AOV / smoke ventilation systems
Ability to interpret fire strategies and construction drawings
Experience preparing estimates or tenders
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Strong knowledge of BS EN 12101 smoke control standards
Good understanding of UK building regulations relating to smoke ventilation
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
