Quantity Surveyor

1ST Step Solutions are supporting a multi-discipline M&E company who have an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis based in Romford.

Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor. This role involves managing the financial and contractual aspects of projects, supporting cost management, risk mitigation, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and forecasts.
Monitor project costs and provide timely financial reporting to management.
Manage tender processes, including documentation, analysis, and contractor selection.
Prepare valuations, variation orders, and contract claims.
Conduct risk assessments and value engineering exercises to optimise costs.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, health & safety, and sustainability considerations.

Requirements
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in M&E industry
Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, and cost management procedures.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and construction-related software (e.g., CostX, Build Soft).
