Finance and Commercial Manager – Mears Group PLC
About the roleAnnual salary up to £70,000.00 plus £4,500 Car Allowance, mileage paid for traveling between branches, and a comprehensive benefits package. Located in South East England (Essex) supporting branches in Essex and London. This permanent, full‑time hybrid role (3‑4 days in office, 1‑2 days from home) works closely with senior leadership to translate financial data into actionable insights, drive performance, and support strategic decision‑making.
Responsibilities- Provide commercial and financial support to operational branch leadership, ensuring understanding of the commercial model and ownership of financial performance and profitability.
- Deliver first‑class commercial and financial management information and analysis, including monthly performance reviews, insightful commentary, risk assessment, rolling forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Partner with branches to challenge delivery on commercial, financial targets and operational KPIs.
- Participate in commercial contract requirements such as repricing and tendering opportunities.
- Communicate complex financial and commercial data to non‑financial teams, exhibiting a proactive hands‑on approach and working independently.
- Ability to work with detail in low‑value/high‑volume data environments.
- Demonstrable experience in engaging with and developing collaborative relationships.
- Experience in preparing and presenting financial reporting.
- Experience in interpreting commercial contracts.
- Excellent communication skills with people at all levels, including non‑financial stakeholders such as Branch Operational Managers.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Strong time‑management and self‑management skills.
- Entitlement to work within the UK;
Mears does not offer visa sponsorship.
- Experience in Social Housing and Housing Maintenance.
- Commercial understanding of social housing, including Schedule of Rates, subcontractor pricing, and final accounts.
