We are looking for motivated and caring Ambulance Drivers to join the Non‑Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) at Barts Health.
Our NEPTS is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because of their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen. All requests for patient transport are assessed on medical need. Transport is only provided for patients coming from their home addresses to North East London NHS Trust locations.
Transport is also provided for patients going home from a North East London NHS Trust location to a booked address stated by the ward or clinic anywhere in the mainland UK.

The Driver is also responsible for conducting dynamic risk assessments of patients and/or their environment before they are transported in non‑emergency situations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing driving service for patients requiring transport to and from the Trust’s hospitals.
- Ensuring all patients are transported in comfort, with a minimum of stress in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and the required level of competence.
- Moving patients while using wheelchairs, carry chairs, stretchers, and patients that are car suitable.
- Maintaining vehicles in a clean and tidy manner and reporting immediately any defects or accidents.
- Assessing patients before transport in non‑emergency situations.
- Managing a range of vehicles such as cars, ambulances with wheelchair‑securing facilities and stretcher vehicles.
Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and is committed to improving patient safety and care quality. We value inclusion and strive to create a welcoming working environment for all staff.
