Handling patient and practice queriesregardinghospital appointments and treatments confidentially.
Ensuring that any requests for information from medical records are appropriately dealt with according to Practice policy and that allsubsequentcharges are invoiced appropriately
Maintaining the computer based clinical system inan accurate and secure manner
Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information when required
Performing any reasonable administrative tasks as requested by the Secretary Manager or Practice Manager
Main duties of the job- All GPs and health professionals as required.
This includes the typing of letters, medical reports, patient referrals inan accurate and quality manner. - To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the accurate typing of letters, reports and patient referrals etc.
- Manage all aspects of e-Referrals pertaining to General Practice.
- File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records by scanning onto Docman.
- Maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
- To retrieve medical records and assist with the completion of medical/insurance records.
- To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
- Utilising Lexacom dictation system as appropriate.
- To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.

The post-holder will be responsible to profide full secretarial service to all GPs and health professionals as required.
This includes the typing of letters, medical reports, patient referrals inan accurate and quality manner.
- English Language GCE/GCSE or equivalent
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Typing qualification, Secretarial studies or business administration certification or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a team or by self
- Ability to think on own feet
- Diplomacy
- Commitment to patient care
- Polite and courteous manner
- Confidence and a positive outlook
- Sense of humour
- Previous medical secretarial experience, Knowledge of EMIS,
- Knowledge of Docman
