Role Overview

This is a permanent role with full‑time and part‑time opportunities (total 1.4 WTE) for an experienced Children’s Nurse to join the Children’s Community Nursing Team (CCNT). The team provides care for children and young people across Redbridge, working within the Children’s Directorate and supporting the Children’s Community Nursing Services in Barking and Havering. The post holder will work autonomously in the home setting, demonstrating clinical expertise and a commitment to delivering high‑quality, family‑centred care.

The service operates across Queen’s Hospital, Romford, and King George’s Hospital, Ilford, providing a wide range of medical and surgical care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously in the home setting, delivering high‑quality, holistic, family‑centred nursing care to children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities.
  • Manage a defined caseload, focusing on effective case management to reduce avoidable hospital admissions and ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide direct clinical care for both acute and long‑term conditions, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams.
  • Work in partnership with children, their families and carers to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Support service development and contribute to the growth of the CCNT, working under the leadership of a Band 8a Lead Nurse.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualified and experienced Children’s Nurse with a clinical background suitable for community care.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and access to a private vehicle.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive approach to service development.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, supported by the trust.
  • Experience in delivering care in a community setting is desirable.
