DevOps Software Engineer

Roke Manor Research Ltd, a prominent name in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Dev Ops Software Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This exciting opportunity will involve working with cutting-edge technologies to develop innovative solutions for national security.

Key Responsibilities:

Writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach
Creating code that is open by default and easy for others to reuse
Translating logical designs into physical designs
Producing detailed designs
Effectively documenting all work using required standards, methods, and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate
Working with well understood and emerging technologies and identifying appropriate patterns
Integrating API/UI components with existing data stores and APIs
Maintaining and developing existing architectural components including Data Ingest, Data Stores, and REST APIs
Participating in sprint ceremonies with the agile team, attending daily stand-ups, epic decomposition, demos, and planning sessions
Assisting the wider team to understand upcoming API features and their impact
Collaborating with user researchers and representing users internally
Explaining the difference between user needs and desires

Job Requirements:

We're looking for individuals with a blend of analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement, and a passion for national security. Ideal candidates will have:

Experience in IT Dev Ops and Software Development
Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or Java
Expertise in front end frameworks - at least one of Angular

JS, React, or VueJS
Knowledge of Windows infrastructure - IIS, Windows Server
Understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server)

Experience with containerisation - Docker and Kubernetes
Proficiency in scripting languages - Bash or Power Shell
Ability to learn "just in time" to adopt cutting-edge new technologies and paradigms
