Pharmacy Technician – CVS Health

As a Pharmacy Technician, you support our pharmacy teams and deliver operational and service excellence within your store. You will assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience, supporting pharmacy operations per SOPs and best practices. You must complete company training, satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements per state requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (i.e., production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off).
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: empathetic service at pick‑up, drive‑thru, over the phone; offering immunizations and other services at the register; solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership (e.g., putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories).
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, volunteer to travel to stores in the market.
  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, local laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies (controlled‑substance dispensing, record keeping, patient privacy).
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities (if applicable)
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer patients to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor for adverse reactions; report adverse reaction events per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including but not limited to age, education, and licensure/certification.

Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.

    • Concentrate on a task, pivot quickly, confirm prescription info and label accuracy ensuring patient safety.

    • Look for ways to help people, friendly manner.
    • Notice and respond to patient reactions appropriately.

    • Use and understand verbal and written communication.
    • Active listening, full attention, asking questions, not interrupting.

    • Use math to solve prescription calculations.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action.
  • Physical Demands
    • Mobile, upright, lift up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, visual acuity, etc.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market.

$16.50 – $25.00 per hour (base hourly rate; actual offer depends on experience, education, geography, etc.)
