Job Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for supporting and administering a broad range of human resources programs and processes in compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local employment laws. This role serves as a key partner to leaders and employees, ensuring consistent application of HR policies, accurate administration of HR systems, and a positive employee experience across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Support full‑cycle talent acquisition, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, background checks, employment offers, and new hire onboarding and orientation, in compliance with U.S. and Michigan employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and personnel files in accordance with record retention, confidentiality, and compliance requirements.
  • Review, audit, and maintain timekeeping and attendance records; partner with payroll and operations to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with FLSA, state wage and hour laws, and company policies.
  • Partner with supervisors and managers on employee relations matters, including corrective counseling, investigations, documentation, and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and engagement‑focused workplace culture by supporting conflict resolution and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support the performance management process, including tracking review cycles, documentation, employee communications, and approved wage and salary changes.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, life events, claims resolution, and employee communications regarding eligibility, coverage, and enrollment timelines.
  • Complete Workers’ Compensation reporting and claims administration; maintain OSHA logs and required postings; and coordinate with safety manager, supervisors, and third‑party administrators regarding work‑related injuries.
  • Coordinate and track training, performance measurement, and employee development initiatives to enhance employee skills, performance, and engagement.
  • Assist with the implementation and communication of HR policies, procedures, and employee communications, ensuring alignment with company standards and applicable employment laws.
  • Perform other HR‑related duties and projects as assigned to support organizational needs.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education required;
    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Human Resources certification (e.g., SHRM‑CP, PHR) or actively working toward certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive Human Resources experience required; experience in manufacturing, production, distribution, agriculture, or warehouse environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, OSHA) and familiarity with Michigan employment regulations preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required; experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems preferred.
