Role Description

The Outside Sales Specialist is responsible for selling and supporting new equipment to specialized markets and within their assigned territory.

Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Have an established in-depth knowledge of customers and markets within assigned territory.
  • Provide daily direct liaison support between customers and manufacturing to resolve customer issues and ensure projects move through the shop in a timely manner.
  • Visit customer sites and perform informal, preliminary equipment surveys as required.
  • Create comprehensive quoted/proposals to meet customer’s requirements and the ability to follow up and convert opportunities into profitable sales.
  • Developing and maintaining strong knowledge of Roll-Off, End Dump, Gondola and Lugger equipment line-up in addition to competitive products
  • Conducting demonstrations of equipment in the field and/or operating machinery at customer jobsite
  • Able to manage time and priorities for maximum efficiency and sales effectiveness with the available resources.
  • Accountable for accurate sales call reporting, quotation follow up and closing transactions in a timely manner.
  • Accountable for timely submitting of required reports, including, but not limited to; weekly expense reports, weekly call reports, monthly activity reports, target account planning, as well as weekly itinerary.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform closely within a team environment while at the same time possessing the ability to proceed independently when required with minimal supervision even when multiple priorities exist.
  • Represents the Company at factory, industry and company events, including meetings and training.
  • Flexibility to meet sometimes- travel to spend time making customer visits within the assigned territory. Overnight travel will be required.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adheres to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6+ years’ sales experience in the heavy equipment / construction industry or a related field
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office software)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude required.
  • Equipment knowledge or previous industry experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, engineering, business or manufacturing from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and ability to meet requirements of the Company Driver Policy; the Company will review motor vehicle records annually for all employees for whom driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function or when employees must obtain and drive rental vehicles during the course of conducting company business.
