Job Description
Job Description
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair advanced industrial X-ray systems at customer facilities worldwide — microfocus X-ray sources, high-voltage generator systems, and industrial linear accelerators (LINACs) used in NDT, metrology, and inspection for aerospace, defense, nuclear, automotive, electronics, and energy customers. You'll be the primary technical contact for customers, splitting time between in-house system testing and field service.
What You'll Do
- Install and commission X-ray inspection systems: setup, beam alignment, geometric calibration, detector integration
- Commission microfocus open-tube systems — tube conditioning, vacuum validation — plus imaging software and CT acquisition setup
- Run Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT)
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on microfocus sources, HV generators (90kV–450kV), and LINAC systems, plus HV power supplies, cooling, vacuum, and motion subsystems
- Diagnose arcing, beam instability, focal spot drift, vacuum failures, and HV breakdown; root cause analysis and corrective action
- Troubleshoot HV, control, and electromechanical subsystems — motion stages, manipulators, CT scanning systems — using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and diagnostic software
- Handle radiation safety and compliance: surveys, leakage testing, interlock verification, regulatory inspection support
- Train customer operators and maintenance staff; provide remote support; maintain service documentation
- Support upgrades, retrofits, and ongoing customer relationships
Must-Haves
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical field
- 5+ years servicing industrial X-ray systems or similar high-voltage equipment
- Experience with at least one of: microfocus X-ray sources, HV generators (90kV–450kV), or LINAC systems
- Strong electronics troubleshooting and electromechanical systems background
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings; diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters)
- Knowledge of radiation safety practices and regulatory compliance
- Able to travel up to 50%, including international; lift 55–65 lbs; comfortable around high-voltage and radiation-generating equipment
Nice-to-Haves
- NDT, DR, or CT inspection system service experience
- Vacuum systems (turbo/roughing pumps); motion control or industrial automation
- CE/UL compliance processes; LINAC RF/accelerator systems
- Microcontroller or embedded systems troubleshooting
Application Process
Review of applications will begin upon posting and continue until the position is filled. Candidates should submit the following materials for full consideration:
- A current resume.
- A position-specific cover letter addressing qualifications and interest.
All inquiries and nominations will be handled with strict confidentiality.
