This is a full-time, on-site role based in Durban for a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Eva-Last. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control for various construction projects. Key responsibilities include preparing and managing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), monitoring project budgets, and regularly producing cost reports. The role entails supporting project planning, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, liaising with stakeholders, and maintaining cost efficiency throughout project cycles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Commercial Management- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bill of materials.
- Conduct legal feasibility studies and cost analyses for proposed projects.
- Manage the financial aspects of projects including cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
- Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare variation orders, claims, and final accounts.
- Read, interpret, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations – strong contractual and commercial understanding of the Joint Building Contracts Committee (JBCC) agreements is required.
- Debtors’ management – outstanding retentions – according to legal contract.

- Administer contracts in accordance with company policies and standard forms of contract, specifically the Joint Building Contracts Committee (JBCC) agreements.
- Advise on contractual rights, obligations, and liabilities.
- Manage claims and disputes with clients, subcontractors, or suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with contractual procedures for variation orders, claims, and extensions of time.
- Manage and ensure final retentions are claimed and invoiced – final account reconciliation and sign-off.
- Attend project meetings and site visits to monitor progress and costs.
- Provide advice on procurement strategy, value engineering, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure commercial compliance.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, debtor collections for projects.
- Maintain accurate records of all project costs, variations, and contractual correspondence.
- Review and approve payment applications from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain professionalism, strong communication, and a solutions-driven work ethic at all times.
- Mentor and guide Team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant construction experience.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts.
- Experience in commercial construction projects is an advantage.
- Valid South African driver license and own vehicle essential.
