Role Overview
Join Med Star Health as an Environmental Support Associate. Perform a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the hospital and satellite locations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Change and hang drapes, curtains, and cubicle curtains.
- Cleans and disinfects furniture and equipment; wheelchairs, shower chairs, over-bed stands, etc.
- Clean locker rooms, toilets, rest rooms, and washrooms; replenish soap, towels, and toilet tissues.
- Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adhere to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Dust, clean, scrub, disinfect, and/or polish furniture, walls, woodwork, window sills, fans, vents, Venetian blinds, radiators, air conditioners, mirrors, lamps, tiles, equipment, and bathrooms. Clean windows, door frames, and high areas using a ladder as needed.
- Gather and dispose of soiled linen, trash, and waste materials and replace trash can liners. Respond to requests for cleanup of spills and special problems.
- Maintain effective infection control through proper cleaning and sanitizing; follow specific cleaning procedures as directed. Obey hazard warning signs.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition through proper and routine preventive maintenance. Receive and use supplies in a proper manner. Report hazardous or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
- Note and report dripping faucets, plugged drains, and toilets broken windows or frames, etc.
- Participate in meetings and on committees and represent the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required and service improvement teams.
- Perform discharge cleaning procedures of patient and resident rooms and prepare room for new occupant; follow isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
- Perform routine daily cleaning tasks including resident rooms, nursing stations, hallways, public access areas, activity and day rooms, and staff and utility rooms.
- Set up chairs and tables for conferences, classes, and special events and fold and store them after events. Move, remove and relocate furniture, furnishings, equipment and other heavy objects as required. Move large items in and out of storage.
- Utilize scrubbers, buffers, mechanical floor cleaners, wet vacs, polishers, vacuums and mops to clean floors, halls, stairways, and public areas. Buff, strip, waxes and polish floors. Vacuums and shampoos furniture and carpets.
- Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Prior work experience not required.
- Required basic literacy and arithmetic skills.
USD $18.00 - USD $29.74 per hour.
