Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Director of Service will oversee the methodology, standards, processes, procedures, performance and quality relating to the servicing of fleet assets as well as the research and development and special projects related to the fleet.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc's health and safety guidelines.
  • Accountable for setting the service standards governing all service-related activities across the business.
  • Establish metrics and measures to continually assess the effectiveness of the servicing of the fleet company-wide.
  • Drive service performance across multiple regions and countries with competing needs.
  • Oversee research and development activities related to the fleet, including prioritizing initiatives, developing products, designing solutions, and working cross‑functional on implementation.
  • Oversee special projects related to the servicing of the fleet, including resourcing projects and monitoring progress.
  • Manage staff, providing leadership for hiring, training, development, coaching, performance management, and all other people‑management practices.
  • Work through a matrix organization to implement service initiatives and changes into the company.
  • Participate in the annual budget process.
  • Oversee and/or perform policy, process, and procedure audits at branches.
  • Utilize multiple communications channels to operators across the company to provide open and transparent communications on all topics related to the operations of the business.
  • Work effectively with other departments including Safety, Quality, HR, Finance, IT and others to align priorities, projects, change initiatives, and communications.
  • Establish and consistently meet or exceed quality and delivery standards for products and services for internal and external customers.
  • Promote a collective and positive safety attitude by providing leadership by example.
Required Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of equipment service experience with progressively responsible positions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Large fleet service equipment experience highly preferred.
  • Relevant service certifications are an asset.
  • Management training an asset.
  • Welding training an asset.
